2020/2021 season begins:
Wednesdays (Sabre & Foil; 7-9 p.m; ages 14-17 & 18+): Classes start 9 September
Thursdays (Sabre & Foil; 7-9 p.m; 18+): Classes start 10 September
**There will be some changes due to the impact of COVID-19 as you have come to expect. Upon entering EGCC, you will be required to use hand sanitizer and maintain physical distancing.
From a sport perspective, no handshaking, maintaining distance and no equipment sharing. For those needing to borrow a club mask and jacket, you will be allocated one of each and expected to adopt them for the season. This means there will be a refundable equipment deposit for these two items. You must have your own glove.
Foils or sabres that are borrowed will be wiped down after use.
As we have seen around us with COVID-19, restrictions can change rapidly based on local conditions. Such changes could at any time impact our operations and we shall assess and implement change as required if and when we are required to do so.**
Phoenix Fencing Club was founded over ten years ago by Head Coach, Stephen Symons. A family affair, daughter Emma is working on her coaching skills, and grand-daughter Isabella can sometimes be spotted at the club. We welcome people who are new to the sport of Fencing (beginners), Fencing intermediates (1-3 years) and experienced/advanced Fencers. We offer regular programs in two of the Fencing weapons – Foil and Sabre; and limited sessions in Epee.
LOCATION & TIMES:
We operate our Fencing programmes in the heart of Winnipeg! You’ll find us Wednesday & Thursday evenings (7-9 p.m.) at Earl Grey Community Centre (360 Cockburn Street North, in the Fort Rouge area).
