Sabre Orange Armband – L3

Sabre Orange Armband – Level 3
A progamme for Intermediate fencers on Wednesdays (ages 14-17, and 18+) and Thursdays (ages 18+).  Take the building blocks learned in Yellow Armband Levels 1 & 2 of Sabre Fencing and expand your actions on the piste and understanding of the rules.
Advance enrollment required; intake in September and January every year.

Orange Armband
Footwork:
half step forward, half step backward, slow steps forward linked with fast steps forward, differentiate between preparation steps and steps for attack

Technical Elements:
indirect attacks, attacks to the hand, counter attacks to the hand followed by opposition

Preparations:
preparations with the point on guard in 3, in the middle of the piste slow steps forward linked with the offensive-defensive or counter-offensive action, defence with the point threatening the opponent

Action Plan:
identification of actions to execute based on the opponents position, identification of the distance, choice of action based on the distance identified, offensive and defensive actions executed based on the above mentioned preparations

Rules:
conventions, role of the referee

Refereeing:
referee four bouts using the correct commands and describing the actions executed

Testing:
Testing for the Orange Armband in Sabre Fencing is done at Phoenix’s Winnipeg facility at the end of every semester.  Taking the test is up to each individual; if you thinking of testing please consult your programme lead coach.
